How we can help
We understand legal fees can often cause concern
So we will always be open and frank with you about costs and keep you informed throughout your case.
We will work closely with you to bring about the best outcome in the most cost-effective way possible. We are always open and transparent from the start as to the likely costs of any legal issues, and offer a number of different fee structures so that you can decide how you wish to use our services in the most cost-effective way for you.
Divorce Service Pricing
Introductory Call
All new clients will have an initial free telephone discussion with one of our Directors to discuss how we can help you.
First Meeting
The first meeting will generally be on a fixed fee basis of £200 – 300 per hour inclusive of VAT, depending on the seniority of the lawyer you see.
The meeting can be face to face, on the telephone, or on zoom and lasts up to an hour giving you tailored, bespoke advice. We should then be able to give you an estimate of likely costs of assisting you moving forward.
DIY Divorce
If you wish to deal with the divorce yourself, but need support and advice as and when you require it, we will support you in doing this, charging you for the amount of time we spend helping you. This way you can use our services as little or as much as you wish and have full control over your costs.
We have a number of hourly rates ranging from £175 + VAT to £380 + VAT to suit your personal circumstances and needs.
This also allows you to have a solicitor in the background to support you if you represent yourself in Court.
Fixed Fee, No Fault Divorce
- If you are an applicant in a no-fault divorce, your fee will be £500 + VAT.
- If you are responding to the divorce, £300 + VAT.
- There is also a Court fee of £612.
We can discuss a fixed fee for certain bespoke work. Please book a call for further information.
Representation Rates
Where you need full support, advice, and representation we will discuss which pricing arrangement is best for you and seek to ensure that the right member of the team handles your matter based on its complexity and the issues involved.
We have a number of hourly rates ranging from £175 + VAT to £380 + VAT to suit your personal circumstances and needs.
We work collegiately so that you benefit from the strength and depth of experience across the entire firm. If needed, we can put you in touch with organisations that can offer litigation funding.
Mediation Service Pricing
MIAM
The Mediation Information Assessment meeting (MIAM) is £180 inclusive of VAT per person, and these typically take place via video link (but can be a face-to-face appointment if required).
Mediation Session and Documentation Cost
- Our charges for joint mediation sessions are at an hourly rate of £180 + VAT per person (£216 inclusive of VAT) for all mediation sessions.
- Typically, mediation sessions last between 90 minutes and 2 hours (£324-£432 per person) although the duration would be arranged to suit your needs. Mediation can be online or face to face as appropriate for your circumstances.
- The mediator’s hourly rate of £216 per person applies to the provision of documents that may be required within the mediation process (such as open financial statements, memorandum of understandings etc). These would be discussed and agreed with you both in advance if such documents are appropriate and required, and an estimate given for how long each would take to prepare.
Government Mediation Voucher Scheme
If you are mediating around children and child arrangements there is currently a Government-funded Family Mediation Voucher Scheme running that will contribute up to £500 (inclusive of VAT) towards the mediation of eligible cases. It is non-means tested and available to each family once during the lifetime of the scheme. This scheme would be discussed with you during your MIAM and the mediator would apply on your behalf (with you each signing consent forms etc) if eligible.
*Please note that this £500 contribution does not cover the cost of the MIAM or the cost of mediation around issues other than children and child arrangements.
Disclaimers
We do not undertake legal aid for any legal work or mediation. If you believe you may be eligible for legal aid for mediation please see the Family Mediation Council website for a list of mediators who undertake legal aid work.
